Between yes and no

between
yes
and no
what
is the difference?
between
good
and evil
how far
is the distance?
how
trivial
to fear
whatever it is
that others do
  the masses
are grinning
happily
today
munching
beef,
pork,
and lamb
hiking
up
the spring
terraces
I
alone
am sluggish,
showing
no joy
growing
but
not yet
able
to choose,
a baby
that still
doesn't know
how
to smile,
drifting
idly
as if
I had
no home
everyone
has had
too much
to eat,
I alone
seem
to have lost
everything
my mind
stares
stupidly,
I'm sleepy
ordinary
people
seem
sharp, smart
ordinary
people
make
bright
distinctions
I
muddle
through,
a rowboat
on open seas
everyone
else
has
an active
aim
I'm
numb,
a hick
from the
outback
I'm
a babe
in these
unnatural
woods
but I
drink
Mother
Nature's
milk.
