Cut through anonymity

Let's talk persona to persona

Develop an attitude.

Have you thought much about your own attitude toward the people who read what you write?  Often we ignore our audience, treating them as, well, out there somewhere.

To get into a real conversation with your visitors, though, you need to stop sounding as if you were a neutral, diplomatic, bland corporation. Stop being anonymous.

Figure out what your relationship is. That shows up as attitude.

And think about how much you dare reveal about your own life, your own opinions.  You're creating your own persona, even as you write to a group of people you have characterized with another persona. That's why I say we are talking persona to persona.

Weird.  How can we overcome the artificiality, impersonality, and distance to make contact?
